Kyanna Davis Announcement

Varsity Women's Basketball

Kyanna Davis ('17) Selected as Head Women's Basketball Coach

Valley Christian High School is proud to announce the selection of Kyanna Davis ('17) as the next head coach of the Valley Christian women's basketball program. Coach Davis was among the most decorated players in program history as a four-year varsity starter, a two time All WCAL 1st team selection and an All-WCAL 2nd team selection after her sophomore year. She helped lead the Warriors to a CCS Championship in 2014 and the NorCal playoffs in each of her four years as a member of the team. Kyanna also served as team captain for three years.

After high school Kyanna went on to star at California State University, Stanislaus where she was a two-time member of the CCAA All-Conference team and a NCAA Woman of the Year nominee. She ranks among the top ten in Warrior history in a number of categories including career points, career rebounds and single season free throw percentage. Kyanna is also one of five players in Warrior history to score over 1,000 career points and grab over 500 career rebounds. She graduated in three years with a degree in Business Administration and then earned a Master's in Business Administration during her final two years as a student-athlete.

Following her playing career, Coach Davis served for three years as a volunteer assistant coach on the Stanislaus staff. Most recently, she served as an assistant coach at Prestonwood Christian Academy in Plano, Texas where she helped lead the program to a TAPPS 6A District Championship and state championship appearance. She has also been active in the club circuit in Texas working with CyFair Elite Nike EYCL and serving as the head coach of the BIQ Elite 15U Select 40 circuit team.
"It is quite literally a dream come true to have the opportunity to return to the Valley Christian campus as the leader of the women's basketball program, said Coach Davis. "I am thrilled to have the opportunity to return to a place where I grew up and serve the students and families here. As a member of his first team at VCHS, I am eager to build on the foundation left by Coach McSwain and his staff."

Valley Christian Vice President of Athletics Eric Scharrenberg commented, "We are thrilled to have Kyanna return to campus as our head women's basketball coach. Her poise, intelligence and natural leadership ability were evident even during her days as a student in our junior high school. We have always felt she would be an outstanding coach. During the interview process, she stood out among an outstanding group of candidates through her ability to connect with young people and the community. We are excited to support her as she leads our program into the future."
Coach Davis is expected to officially begin her work at Valley Christian in June upon the completion of the hiring process.
