Eric Scharrenberg is in his 30th year at Valley Christian Schools, where he is Vice President of K–12 Athletics and Physical Education. Since arriving in 1997, he has helped build Valley Christian into one of the premier athletic programs in Northern California. He oversees athletics and physical education from the elementary grades through high school.

Scharrenberg came to Valley Christian as a varsity coach in football and basketball. He made his biggest mark as the varsity football defensive coordinator, helping build the Warriors into a perennial power. His defenses were a driving force behind the program's best era:
  • CIF NorCal Champions: 2016
  • CCS Champions: 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2012, 2016, 2018
  • WCAL Champions: 2002, 2004, 2005, 2010, 2014, 2016, 2019
The 2016 team won it all: the WCAL title, the CCS crown and the NorCal championship. Before Valley Christian, Scharrenberg coached at Foothill College, Mountain View High School and Menlo College.

A two-sport athlete, Scharrenberg starred at Saint Francis High School in Mountain View, graduating in 1986. He is a member of the Saint Francis High School Athletic Hall of Fame. He went on to play football and basketball in college.

Scharrenberg earned his bachelor's degree from San José State University in Psychology and Comparative Religious Studies. He added a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Notre Dame de Namur University.

Asked what he loves most about Valley Christian, Scharrenberg points to "the people and the opportunity to be in a Christian community."

The Scharfenberg’s are a true Warrior family. Eric and his wife, Christina, live in San Jose, and all three of their children are Valley Christian graduates: Luke ('17), Rebecca ('19) and Lauren ('20). The family attends Venture Christian Church.

Fun fact: Scharrenberg is a proud "grand-dog" parent to Ivy, a Dalmatian.
