Kalei Cerone is in her ninth year as a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) at Valley Christian High School. Since joining the Warriors in 2018, she has been a trusted presence in the athletic training room and on the sidelines. She keeps Valley Christian student-athletes healthy, safe and ready to compete. As she likes to remind everyone, "Cookies and caffeine will always be accepted in the ATR."
Cerone came to Valley Christian with more than five years of experience at the college and high school levels. From 2013 to 2015, she was a graduate assistant athletic trainer at San José State University, working with the Spartans' women's soccer and women's tennis programs. She then spent three years (2015–2018) as an athletic trainer at Woodside High School.
Cerone earned her bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from Chapman University in 2013. She then completed a master's degree in Kinesiology, with an emphasis in Athletic Training, at San José State University in 2015.
A native of Hawai?i, Cerone graduated from Kamehameha Schools Kapalama in Honolulu in 2009. Asked what she loves most about Valley Christian, she points to "the support we receive – across the board."
Kalei and her husband, Matt, live in San Jose with their children, Jackson and Jordan. The family attends Westgate Church.
Her life verse is Matthew 20:26–28: "Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant … just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve." "It's a reminder that your actions and the way you care can have a huge influence on those around you," she says. "Jesus came to serve, and we should model our lives after Him in that way."
Fun fact: Kalei speaks Hawaiian.
