Former Warrior Standout Signs with Taylor
Taylor University volleyball Head Coach Brittany Smith has announced the signing of Colorado Springs Christian High School senior middle hitter Bethany Beck to a national letter of intent. As a senior, Beck was honored as a first team all-state selection after leading Colorado Springs Christian to their fourth straight 3A state championship. A team captain, Beck had 20 kills and seven blocks in the championship match. For the season she tallied 212 kills and 79 solo blocks.
After moving to Colorado from California before her junior season, the 6-footer made an immediate impact for the Lions as she was named Most Improved Player on the state championship team. She also was part of the Colorado Juniors 17-1 squad that won the club state championship.
Also a standout on the basketball court, Beck was CSC's leading scorer as a senior and a two-time all-state selection.
Coach Smith anticipates that Beck will fit in well as a Lady Trojan. "I'm very excited Bethany has committed to Taylor. With transferring during her high school career, she knows how hard it is to start over," Smith noted. "She has shown tremendous commitment, hard work and passion for the game throughout her career. Those traits ultimately gave her great success in high school, and will serve our program well."
Bethany is looking forward to being a part of the Taylor volleyball program. "I chose Taylor because I felt it was the place God wanted me to be," Beck said. "It is a great school with a competitive program. I love the coaches and the girls, and I'm very excited to be a part of the volleyball family at Taylor."
Beck's plans are to major in sport management and minor in public relations.
