Varsity Season Preview
SAN JOSE - A successful 2006 – 2007 campaign for the Valley Christian Girls Varsity Soccer team last season has no doubt changed the expectations for this year. Beating Archbishop Mitty in the WCAL Championship game last year catapulted the program to new levels. Although coming up short in the CCS Div II title game also against Mitty, the season had laid the foundation for the future.
Every year, each team defines its own unique personality. This team has formed a strong core that continues to gain momentum both on and off of the field. Eleven seniors adorn the roster with experience and leadership. Five Juniors, four Sophomores and one Freshman will also be suited for the season. A total of 13 players are returning from last season providing the cornerstone for the team.
The program will continue to focus on building a strong “team” environment under Head Coach Jolene Keel and Assistant Coach Bill Stryker. “This team has the tightest bond we have seen in the past four years,” said Keel. “They are confident and have a strong desire to put forth the effort to raise the bar again,” she concluded.
The ladies will go into action on November 21st when they travel to Sobrato High School for the season opener. |
