Pres Places Tie Paramount
SAN JOSE – What was billed as the “big rematch” ended even as the Warriors and Panthers played to a 0 – 0 tie. The Varsity Girls were looking for more. They had been lying in wait still stinging from the one that got away in early January when Pres squeaked out a 1 – 0 victory on their home turf.
Both teams vying for third place in the always competitive WCAL this game has added importance not only to the overall league standings but crucial positioning for entry into the CCS tournament at the end of the year.
The Lady Warriors did out shot the Panthers 8 – 3 and had 3 corner kicks to none for Presentation. However, the scoreboard does not grade those categories. The tie gives Presentation the head to head advantage should the teams tie in league.
“It appeared midway through the game that Pres was playing for the tie,” Coach Keel commented in a statement after the game. “They were looking to prevent any major mistakes allowing us scoring opportunities. We’ll see how it all washes out over the next week. We just need to perform well from here out.” |
