SAN JOSE - Presentation High School's varsity soccer team toughed out a 2 – 1 victory over Valley Christian in the chilling wind of the VC soccer field earlier today.
The score was not actually a clear representation of how the game played out, as the Warriors out-shot the Panthers 25 to 9. Valley dominated the game but could not close the Panthers out. Morgan Celaya scored the lone goal for VC on a Stephanie Bales throw in. Once Celaya received the ball she turned on the defender and drove a solid shot to the left side of the goal. That tally put the Lady Warriors up 1 – 0.
Presentation answered back with the equalizer on a penalty kick when a foul was called on Macie McMillan at the top of the box at 36:15 into the match. Megan McGrew fired the ball which was partially blocked by net minder Chanae Jones and just barely rolled into the right corner.
McGrew scored again midway through the second half giving Presentation all they needed to pick up the win.
“This was one of those types of games our players and coaches hate to lose. We played hard but could not hit the back of the net…frustrating for us”, Coach Jolene Keel commented.
