CCS alumni in college and beyond: Rubin Williams

Rubin Williams, Tennessee track and field: The former Valley Christian star continued his outstanding senior season at the 42nd Annual Sea Ray Relays, winning the Tony Wilson Award as the outstanding track performer. Friday, Williams ran a wind-aided time of 9.96 seconds to win the 100 meters. (His 100 time of 10.30 is No. 7 in the NCAA). Saturday, he won the 200 in 20.60, the second-best outdoor mark in the NCAA this year. Williams won the NCAA indoor 200-meter title this season with a time of 20.36 and finished second in the 200 at last year's NCAA outdoor meet. A 14-time All-American, Williams also anchors Tennessee's 400 relay team, which has the fifth-fastest time in the nation this season (39.39). At Valley Christian, Williams finished second in the 100 and 200 at the state finals in 2002. He then competed unattached for two seasons before starting at Tennessee.
