For the third time in 3 years, Jennifer Bergman won her race at the prestigious Mount San Antonio College Cross Country Invitational. The largest high school meet in the world. Her 17:57 time over the 3 mile course was the second fastest of the day as she led the Lady Warriors in the Sweepstakes (most talented division) Race. The team finished 6th as they raced against some of the fastest division 4 teams in the state in a preview of the state meet. Kendra Higgins was again a solid number two finishing in the top 10 with a very respectable 19:37. A time that only 3 of the boys beat. Speaking of the Boys team the Sophmore squad, led by Dean Barron finished runner up to an outstanding Brett Harte team to garner the first podium finish by a boys team at an invitational in the last 15 years and a cool plaque and team medals. Dean finished 3rd overall with a spectacular time of 17:33. Mount SAC is famous for its hills and Dean tamed each and every one of them as he led the Warriors. Ford Merrick and Ian Karlsson each also bettered their times from last year and helped Valley to their record breaking finish. Other
runners who had break out days were Will Pitman, Emily Blaha and Lindsay Cole, all underclassmen who continue to make the future of our team look bright.

On Saturday the team celebrated their successful races with a day at Disneyland. Special thanks to Gary and Kristi Barron and Janet Hohl, parents who went along on the trip and made it all possible by driving the vans.
