The Warrior Cross Country Team continued what has been a special season Saturday, at the Serra Invitational at Crystal Springs Cross Country Course in Belmont. For the first time in recent history a boy won a race at an invitational. Sophomore sensation Dean Barron won the Sophomore race in a blazing 16:37. His time is the second fastest by a Valley Christian runner at Crystal Springs ever only surpassed by Steve Wheeler's 16:24 in 1986. And improving his personal best at Crystal springs by 3 minutes! Dean put on a impressive show by battling 2 other runners until making a devastating move to pass both runners in the last 400 meters and leave them wondering what happened. Needless to say Dean is having a great year.

On the girls side, Jennifer Bergman lowered her PR at Crystal to a stellar 17:43, while winning the Girls Varsity race. Jennifer waited to the final 800 meters to pass and pull away from Stephanie Barnett of Leland one of the top runners in CCS in any division. Both Jennifer and Dean as well as Kendra Higgins won the coveted top 15 T-shirt for their efforts. Next on tap for the Warriors are the second WCAL meet at Shoreline Park and the Mount SAC invitational in Walnut as final tune ups for League Finals and CCS. We are looking forward to a great final 6 weeks.
