On a brisk Autumn morning, the Warrior's Cross Country team took on a dozen other small schools at the 36th annual Artichoke Invitational at Half Moon Bay High School. Coach Lee pulled one of his patented "surprises" by allowing several of the regular varsity runners to compete in the Frosh / Soph division. This was mainly because 7 of the senior boys were taking SAT's. Jennifer Bergman continued her great year by winning the Varsity Girls race by several seconds despite falling on the hilly course. Kendra Higgins, Julie Wallace and Emily Blaha also garnered medals by finishing in the top 15 of their races. On the Boys side, Dean Barron and Ford Merrick won medals for the boys Frosh Soph team that finished 5th overall. The girls varsity again finished 3rd and the Frosh/Soph girls 7th. After a great day of racing the team went to a pumpkin patch and enjoyed fresh picked strawberries and great weather. All in all, it was quite the successful day for one of the best groups of runners that Valley has assembled in the past decade.
