This Saturday, the Warriors XC team competed at one of the premier races in Northern California, the Stanford Invitational. Runners from as far away as Hawaii came to race on a glorious autumn morning. The golf course provided a unique opportunity to run on a course that many college team run on in NCAA competitions. Valley had some standout performances on both the boys and girls sides. For the men,Dean Barron continued his breakout season covering the 5,000 meter course in 17:28. one of the fastest times by a VC runner in recent memory.

On the ladies side Jennifer Bergman and Kendra Higgins continued their potent 1-2 punch leading the team to a very respectable 5th place out of 23 teams. Jennifer finishing 2nd overall, covering the course at a 5:59 minute per mile pace, in a lightning quick 18:35. Kendra battling a cold finished under 20 minutes in 19:54. More impressive was the fact that the ladies placed ahead of a San Lorenzo Valley High School team that is ranked 4th in the State in Division 4, that with only 5 runners. If we stay healthy we are looking forward to an amazing year.
