Saturday the VC cross country team sent 26 runners to Toro Park, to run the Earlybird Invitational. This meet had over 1300 runners participating in the different age group races. It was a great test of fitness for the team and a chance to pick the top 7 for the Varsity only trip to Pepperdine in 2 weeks. Here are some of the top finishers:

Freshmen girls – Emily Blaha 15th place freshmen girls race out of 143 girls

Sophomore girls – Kendra Higgins 7th place sophomore girls race out of 149 girls

Junior girls – Jennifer Bergman 3rd place junior girls race out of 136 girls (5th fastest time of the day out of 513 girls)

The boys had 3 boys under 19 minutes: Ian Karlsson, Ford Merrick, and Dean Barron Dean’s time was over 4 minutes faster than last year at this time!

We are looking forward to improvements as we make progress toward our goal of sending both boys and girls to the State Meet in November.
