2007-2008 Wrestling Season Wrap-up
The 2007-2008 Valley Christian wrestling season is officially over. However it came with huge successes at every level throughout the entire season. Valley entered its wrestlers in many of the toughest tournaments in the state (Midcals, Cupertino, Foothill, Clayton Valley) and had wrestlers medal in every one of them. Valley also placed 5th in the WCAL and qualified four wrestlers to compete in the Central Coast Section Championships; Jordan Osuna, Charlie Galaviz, Peipe James, Chris Tozer. In post season CCS competition, Valley again came out with honors placing 10th overall in team points. and medaled 3 wrestlers in the top 6 spots; Charlie Galaviz-3rd, Peipe James-4th, Chris Tozer-5th. The highlight of the year was Valley sending 2 state qualifiers to the California State Wrestling Championships in Bakersfield this last weekend. Both Charlie Galaviz and Peipe James wrestled fantastic at the state meet and will forever cherish the memories of competing at the highest high school level. Charlie is graduating this year and thanks his coaches, teammates and those diehard wrestling fans that have supported him throughout his high school wrestling career and throughout his many freestyle seasons. He will miss you all dearly. So will the many other accomplished seniors that are graduating this year; Adam Crawley, Christopher Van Elderon, Michael Sherwood, Alamgir Mand. However Valley’s wrestling program is still strong, alive and well. Valley will be returning the following dedicated wrestlers:
Nick Crawley
Steven Van Elderon
Kevin Ngo
Eric Hoang
Eddie Hoang
Andre McCann
Kevin Avanes
Jordan Osuna
Nathaniel Wrye
Peipe James
Mafoe James
Chris Tozer
Alexis Salandanan
Dustin Tran
Again, thanks to all that have supported Valley’s wrestling program this year. It was one of Valley’s most successful wrestling seasons ever. However after looking at next years young line-up, it is pretty clear Valley Christian High School should continue to have success within WCAL, CCS and at the State level for years to come.
I too will miss Valley Christian High School very much. I have enjoyed this season tremendously more than anyone will ever know. It was an honor supporting your kids, our coaches, my son and in writing these articles. I hope wrestling has been good to you as it has been good to me and my family. God bless you all and especially the life learning sport of Wrestling.
